It is with great sadness that we write this announcement for our final season after 20 years as lessees of this beautiful caravan park. Whether this is your first season as an annual site holder with us or your 10th or 20th, we want to thank each and every one of you for supporting us over the years. Our guests are what make our job great and we have put our heart and soul into this park and loved our time here.
Unfortunately for us, after implementing a tender process, the Great Ocean Road Coast Committee (GORCC) our landlords and delegated State Government land managers decided to cease the tender process and assume the operation of the caravan park themselves at the expiration of the lease on the 1stDecember 2017.
Our tender submission included an offer to pay full commercial rent, spend nearly $15M on capital improvements over the new lease and included a $4M indoor Aquatic Centre which would have been a great asset for the Anglesea community and the caravan park. We believe our offer would have made this caravan park one of the very best in Australia. We have attempted to have this decision overturned but have been unsuccessful. We thank those of you that voiced your opinion by signing the petition onchange.org which received over 3600 signatures to date.
We have been instructed by GORCC to remove all our Cabins, Plant and Equipment by the 1st December 2017. This will include many items like (but not limited to) the meeting room, spa room, gymnasium, jumping pillow, mini golf, laundry, two residences and various recreation equipment. However, we would like to assure you that we will continue to operate the park to the highest possible standard that we possibly can until the end of the lease.
We do not know what GORCC plans to do with park and are unable to answer any questions. If you would like to know about the future of the caravan park or for any bookings after 1 December 2017 you will need to check the GORCC website www.gorcc.com.au.
